ABOUT WAAGMEESTER INDUSTRIAL CANVAS
WAAGMEESTER FOUDATIONS & HISTORY
Waagmeester Industrial Canvas is a family owned business with over seven decades of knowledge and experience creating expert quality products and serving customers all over the world. With our vast experience, Waagmeester Industrial Canvas can handle most anything our customers bring to us.
In 1945 our founder, W.H. “Bud” Waagmeester, started his family business with superior quality work and unbeatable customer service in mind. Since then, three generations of the Waagmeester family have designed and created custom canvas and fabric products with a level of quality craftsmanship that is unmatched. Bud’s sons Steve and Dale, along with his grandson Erik have continued the traditions of quality work and unparalleled customer service started by Bud in 1945. Our family has a history rich with nautical experience, Bud learned his craft in the US Navy, which has made custom boat sails a key product for the Waagmeester team over the years. We also have a division within our family business that designs and creates durable, quality awnings and sun shades for both commercial and residential use as Waagmeester Awnings & Sun Shades. These products can be seen all over the Portland metro area and the west coast. Our growth, skills and expertise naturally lead us into custom industrial canvas products. With our commitment to quality, innovation and customer service, we’ve excelled in the world of industrial canvas. At Waagmeester we’re passionate about and love what we do.
WAAGMEESTER INDUSTRIAL CANVAS CAPABILITIES
If it can be sewn, then we can create whatever you can think up. We’ve practically done it all, building custom sails, boat and vehicle covers, industrial curtains for multi-story buildings, custom covers for all types of flying units, industrial canvas storage containers, HVAC and heavy equipment covers, commercial and residential awnings and sun shades, props and back drops for film and TV sets, inventor prototypes, industrial hammocks… and that’s just a fraction of the diverse product line we’ve created in the last 70+ years!
In the beginning our product line was created out of natural fibers like canvas and Egyptian cotton. Through the development of many different synthetic fabric products, such as Kevlar and Dacron, we are able to build even more durable and long lasting custom items. Along with canvas, Waagmeester Industrial Canvas uses modern synthetics like Technora, Mylar and PBO fabrics to name just a few. With our commitment to innovation, we’re always working with the newest options to create superior, long lasting products.
LOCATION, FACILITIES & EQUIPMENT
When Bud founded our company back in 1945 he opened up shop on Portland’s Alberta Street. As our skills and customer base grew, so did our facility. We ended up occupying an entire city block with a group of connected buildings. At that time, our facility was approximately 9,000 square feet.
Our original Portland, OR location, occupying the whole block!
But we continued to grow and this demanded a larger, more efficiently facility, so in early 2017 we moved to our current location in Wilsonville, Oregon. Our Wilsonville office and manufacturing facility is over 15,000 square feet, nearly doubling the size of our previous space. With this new location, we’re able to improve on our design and manufacturing process, take on projects even greater in scale and offer enhanced customer service.
Our 15,000 sq. ft. state of the art Wilsonville, OR office and manufacturing facility.
