Waagmeester Industrial Canvas is proud to have been involved in many unique and special projects. We’ve created prototypes and concepts that run the range from being highly functional for real world use to fantasy projects far beyond the average imagination! Here we’d like to share some of those projects to show just how far we’re able to push our design and manufacturing capabilities. Check back with our Inventors Page from time to time as we’ll continue to upload galleries of the fun and exciting projects we’ve been lucky enough to be a part of.
“THE WING” STYLED FROM LEONARDO DA VINCI’S GLIDER DESIGN
Some projects are exciting and some are just plain fun, “The Wing” was both and was one of our favorite undertakings. We were commissioned by Casey Dale of Bungee.com to create The Wing from Leonardo Da Vinci’s glider design. This piece was commissioned for the celebration of the Wright Brothers 100th anniversary of flight held in Dayton, Ohio in July of 2003. Casey’s request was that the finished project have both a high tech and an old world look. Each component of The Wing was constructed by the Waagmeester team. The skeletal frame was welded from an aluminum product called Faber-Frame. While the fabric appears to be one piece with the frame, it’s actually several pieces demonstrating our sewing expertise. The rich copper color was selected as it fit the feel of Da Vinci’s renderings. The suede ties against the powder coated frame completed the “old world” feel. The finished product turned out strong, durable and beautiful. The Wing is truly one of our signature creations.
CUSTOM PLANS COVER
This custom plans cover is more than just a stand for housing blueprints. Look closely and you’ll see the hinges throughout. This is a piece that is functional, practical and easy to set up and break down. This is a simple solution for offering protection from wind and weather elements and can be used as a mobile, free standing piece or secured at the base for greater stability.
